West Dorset Heritage Joint Advisory Committee advises partner organisations on how natural features of special interest in West Dorset should be conserved and enhanced. It advises on environmentally sustainable forms of economic and social development. This committee is currently being held in abeyance.

Membership

The committee consists of four members of the West Dorset District Council and two members of the Weymouth and Portland Borough Council. There is also one member representative from each of the following organisations: 

  • Dorset Wildlife Trust
  • Natural England 
  • Campaign to Protect Rural England
  • Dorset Archaeological Committee
  • Dorset Association of Parish and Town Councils
  • Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group
  • Federation of Small Businesses
  • Environment or Tourism Groups of each of the Local Area Partnerships within the West Dorset Heritage Committee Area, including the Weymouth and Portland Environmental Partnership
  • National Farmers Union
  • National Trust

The following organisations are invited to attend as non-voting advisors:

  • Dorset AONB
  • Dorset Coastal Forum Team
  • Dorset Countryside Service
  • World Heritage Site Team
