Coastal environment - historic environment
The historic environment deals with the way in which people have interacted with the coast and the traces they have left.
The historic environment of Dorset's coast is divided in two, there is the terrestrial side, reasonably well understood and well protected by designations and the maritime side less well understood and with fewer levels of protection.
Bibliographic references concerning Dorset's historic environment can be found in the Dorset Marine Literature Database.
