Coastal environment - natural environment

The natural environment involves all natural processes, such as geology and geomorphology, as well as all living things.

The natural environment of Dorset's coast is divided in two, there is the terrestrial side, reasonably well understood and protected by a plethora of designations and the maritime side less well understood and with fewer levels of protection.

Bibliographic references concerning Dorset's marine environment can be found in the Dorset Marine Literature Database.
