- Provided an overview of coastal change from the Late Upper Palaeolithic onwards;
- Provided an assessment of the degree and nature of threat to coastal and historic assets based on current predictions of possible coastal change;
- Provided a broad assessment of the likely archaeological potential and vulnerability of all stretches of the coast;
- Provided a sound basis for developing management and research priorities in respect of specific sites and areas of potential;
- Enhanced public understanding and enjoyment of the coastal zone.
This project was completed in 2004 and the information collected has now been incorporated into the Historic Environment Record.
