Partnerships
County, district and borough councils in Dorset work in partnership with each other and with a number of local, regional and national agencies and organisations.
Partnership working improves efficiency and effectiveness by making the best use of all the resources available.
- Community planning
Community planning is about giving local people the opportunity to create a shared vision for their area and identify priorities for action which are agreed by a wide range of people, organisations and groups.
- Crime and disorder reduction
The Crime and Disorder Act requires councils, the police, primary care trusts, the fire and rescue service, other key agencies and the community to work together at borough/district level to develop and implement plans for reducing crime and disorder.

DCA is an independent voluntary organisation and charitable company. It is governed by a Board of Trustees, and has a membership of voluntary and statutory organisations from across Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole.
