The past on your doorstep - places to visit in Dorset
Work in progress on a concise list of archaeological sites, historic buildings and gardens accessible to the public. There will be brief descriptions drawn from a wide variety of sources and links to sites (where known) with more detailed information.
We're working on this as time and our other commitments allow. Please let us know if you have a favourite place that you would like us to cover.

Roman Town House
The Roman Town House is the only building of its kind open to the public in the country, and is certainly the best preserved. This historic site was uncovered during archaeological investigations by the Dorset Natural History and Archaeological Society in 1937 prior to the building of County Hall.
