Reader development packs are based around different genres, authors and popular titles and will be updated on a regular basis.

They are designed to be used in different settings and they provide the opportunity for pupils to select their own reading. They could be used for:

• Book displays in libraries - to stimulate interest in particular authors or genres (eight genres are covered from crime to war/conflict)

• Multiple copy packs could be used with reader groups to stimulate debate on the work of particular authors

• Award packs could be ordered to shadow key literacy awards

• Special educational needs packs can be used with mixed ability reading groups

• Author packs which contain many of their novels could be used to show the range of the author's work and to introduce readers to their back catalogue

• The packs could be used for readathons

• Lucky dip/book in a brown paper bag.  Pupils will not see what they are selecting but because the books in the packs are all highly rated by pupils of this age range it is anticipated they will enjoy the choice
