Saved and deleted Local Plan policies

This page provides the text and proposals map of the Borough of Christchurch Local Plan as adopted in March 2001. The council have produced a 'Consolidated Local Plan' which shows the changes that have been made as a result of a Direction from the Secretary of State to delete various policies in September 2007. A copy of the consolidated plan and accompanying information is available.

The version of the Local plan provided on this page should be read in conjunction with the Secretary of State's Schedule of Saved Policies provided on the right side of this page. Policies not listed in this schedule are now deleted.

The Planning & Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 allowed local planning authorities to "save" local plan policies for an initial three-year period until was replaced by new policies in local development Frameworks. This initial period expired in September 2007. The Council submitted to the Secretary of State a list of which Local Plan policies it wished to keep beyond September 2007, and which it considered should be deleted. Viewing the Local Plan

Paper copies of the local plan may be seen at Christchurch and Highcliffe libraries and also at the Civic Offices on Bridge Street. Copies are available to buy both in paper copy and on CD ROM at a cost of £35 (inclusive of VAT) plus £5 postage and packing. Local Plan online

An interactive version of the Christchurch local plan is available through the national planning portal website (opens in a new window) . This allows users to find a specific site on the dynamic map and read the wording of any policies that affect the site.  Users should search for 'Christchurch' under the 'Development Plans' section of the website.
