Council meetings

The council (which comprises of all 24 members of the council) meets every six weeks and is responsible for the council's overall policies and for setting the council's budget each year (including council tax).

Members of the public are able to ask the Council Leader, a chairman of a committee or a portfolio holder a question at a council meeting and a period of 30 minutes is allowed for this. Petitions can also be presented to the Mayor at council meetings on matters which the council has powers or duties or which affect the borough. More about public speaking and presenting petitions is available on the right.
