More and more output is being produced at ever smaller geographical areas. The highest level is the Dorset Keyfacts information which gives details on the whole county. Information from the 2001 Census is available in a wide variety of geographies and includes new town profiles.

• Town factsheets and profiles

  These factsheets contain a wide variety of information on the key towns in Dorset as published in the 2010 Dorset Databook, but with some additional data added up to September 2011.

• District profile leaflets and documents

  New profile leaflets were produced in November 2010 to replace the version published in 2004-2005. The new profiles include a profile of each district/borough area and one leaflet covering the wider Dorset county area.

• Rural facilities survey

  The rural facilities survey provides a comprehensive database of the facilities found in each rural settlement in Dorset. It includes facilities such as shops, post offices, pubs and schools.

• Knowing your community

  Information is gathered about our communities from many sources, the most well-known of which is the National Census. Based on this information, and working with Dorset County Council, Purbeck District Council has been able to produce profiles of the district.

• Weymouth & Portland Community Profiles

  The council is committed to meeting the different needs of different people living in Weymouth and Portland. In order to do this we use key data to inform service planning and decision making.

• ACORN Profiles, 2010

  A socio-economic classification of the population into categories, groups and types. The data is built up from various household returns such as the national Census together with sample surveys.

• North Dorset Ward community profiles

  We have commissioned community profiles for each of the 28 wards in North Dorset to improve our knowledge of the wards and key parishes in the district. These detailed profiles will help to identify and measure key social and economic differences and any significant gaps within the district.
