East Dorset Local Land Charges - local authority searches
The purpose of the local authority search is to find out whether a prospective purchaser of a particular property or land will inherit any commitments of a legal or general nature if they continue with the transaction.
There are now three ways to apply for a search, either in paper format, electronically through a third party agent called NLIS, or via the online land searches facility on this website.
Land search requests usually come from solicitors or conveyancing companies as part of the property buying process. Searches identify local authority issues or constraints related to a property.
Personal searches and Con29R searches are available. A fee is payable at the time of the search. A plan is required for the searcher to identify the property and carry out the search. Please telephone us for an appointment.
