Budget and Corporate Plan 2011-14
The Corporate Plan sets out our mission as an organisation, what we aim to achieve, what we plan to spend and how we will measure our success.
Our priorities for the next three years are to protect vulnerable people, support communities and to rise to the financial challenges facing the Council and deliver a balanced budget. Where we have set ourselves a goal, you can see how much we are planning to spend and how much we have already saved. The aims and outcomes we have set ourselves represent the things we feel we should and can deliver for Dorset's communities with the money we have available.
This is a time of great change. The County Council, like all public organisations, has to deal with the reality of significant cuts to the amount of money available to pay for services. At the same time, the challenges facing Dorset's communities have not disappeared. Dorset is a unique and special place to live but we face important economic, demographic, social and environmental challenges. As well as working out how to make savings, we need to ensure that our spending is prioritised where it is most needed. At a time of scarce resources it will be all the more important to maintain a sense of ambition and to focus on priorities.
Now that our Budget and Corporate Plan for the next three years is in place, the challenge is to monitor and manage our success in delivering it. Every three months, we will publish a report on Dorset for You showing how well we've done and explaining any problems we've encountered.
