05. Thriving Communities

The Thriving Communities Group ('the Group') will:

  • Advise all aspects of the Dorset Strategic Partnership (DSP), particularly the Community Strategy Delivery Group (CSDG) on key priorities for action on issues relating to thriving communities
  • Take a strategic lead for the Partnership on all issues relating to the third sector, community development and the strong, active and inclusive agendas
  • Lead, co-ordinate and monitor the delivery of section 4.2 of the Community Strategy 2007-2016 ('Building Strong & Inclusive Communities' – see download Shaping our future Section 4)
  • Seek adequate and well deployed resources to address the key priorities and issues relating to thriving communities
  • Seek ways to achieve better linkages between partnerships/groups with similar objectives, particularly the Strategic Challenge Groups (Affordable Housing, Economy, Accessibility & Environment)
  • Provide regular reporting on progress and activities to inform DSP groups
  • Support and monitor the effectiveness of relevant projects receiving DSP funding
  • Identify opportunities to increase the DSP's policy making influence, for example by responding to consultations, lobbying decision makers etc
  • Provide a community focus for communication, consultation and delivery ensuring the active engagement of relevant partners especially local community planning theme groups
  • Champion Thriving Communities through promotion and communication locally, regionally and nationally
  • Follow the principles of the DSP as set out in the Partnership Agreement.
