Further crime data

In 2004 two major studies were undertaken - the Crime Audit and Drugs Audit - both of which contain considerable further data and analysis.

Crime and Drugs Audits 2004

The Crime and Disorder Act (1998), places a responsibility upon the police, local authorities, and other partners, to work together to reduce crime in their areas. As part of their duties under this Act, Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships are required to undertake an audit of crime every three years. From the findings of this audit, a Strategy is produced which sets out targets for reducing crime over the ensuing three- year period.

For the first time in 2004, partnerships in Dorset were also required to undertake a Drugs Audit, focussing on issues relating to the use and supply of drugs in Dorset.

Both of these reports contain a wide-range of factual data relating to the nature and scope of crime, community safety and drugs issues in Dorset. Please follow the adjacent links  to access these and other local crime reduction-related documentation.
