CCTV in Dorset County Council

CCTV cameras are located throughout the county for the monitoring of traffic flow. The County Council works with partners to ensure that these cameras can also be used to prevent and detect crime. CCTV cameras are also used at specific locations such as libraries and schools.

The County Council has developed a framework code of practice in relation to the CCTV systems it uses (a copy of the Code of Practice can be found below or using the link on the right). Each Directorate will maintain its own copy of the code of practice with the location of cameras, and officer(s) responsible for their operation, included on their copy of the code.

If you wish to make a request for access to recorded images from the system, you should complete a subject access request form (a copy of the form can be found on the right hand side). The form should be submitted to the Council's Data Protection Officer (details below) who will co-ordinate a response to your request.
