04: 25/11/05: Audit and Scrutiny Committee notes 23 November 2005

The Audit & Scrutiny Committee held a call to account at Lytchett Minster School on 9 November.

At their meeting on 23 November members agreed recommendations to present to the Cabinet to assist in delivering this project sooner than might otherwise have been the case. These recommendations include:

  • That the Director of Children's Services be affirmed as the project director for the Lytchett Minster School Project
  • That the headteacher and governors should recognise the county council's leadership of the project
  • That the county council's project delivery protocol be applied rigorously to the future stages of this project and that the support resources allocated to assist the project manager are reviewed and strengthened if necessary
  • That planning advice be sought throughout the preparation of the current design solutions
  • That resources be concentrated on developing the latest design solution for presentation to the Cabinet in January, with a view to submitting it to the Planning Committee for determination without delay.
  • That the £10.9 million allocation to the project be regarded as indicative for design purposes and that there be an acknowledgement of some financial flexibility, if needed, to put an educationally and environmentally feasible design solution into place.
