The quintiles divide up Dorset and Somerset into 5 equal sized groups of Super Output Areas (SOAs) according to their IMD deprivation score: 1 is the most deprived group of SOAs and 5 is the least deprived group of SOAs.
On average, twice as many people smoke in the most deprived areas than in the least deprived areas.
The Dorset and Somerset Lifestyle Survey was a stratified survey covering those aged 16 & over in all PCTs.B. Due to the small number of people surveyed in each PCT area, caution should be used in interpreting this data.
