Assessment service for loan of equipment
Following an assessment, if you qualify for funding under the Fair Access to Care Services (FACS) criteria, equipment can be loaned to you through our Integrated Community Equipment Service.
For information on Fair Access to Care please follow this link to Fair access to care services.
Advice may include finding alternative ways to do things or equipment which can make living at home easier for you. Our occupational therapy (OT) staff will carry out an assessment of how well you manage daily living activities. This will involve asking questions about your daily routine and watching you do some, or all, of the activities involved (getting in and out of bed, for example). By doing this we can work out together where the problems lie and how to solve them.
Examples of types of equipment include a raised toilet seat to help you get on and off the toilet, a hoist to help you in and out of bed, chair raisers, a commode or a perching stool.
As part of our service we can signpost you to alternative suppliers if you would like equipment not available through Dorset County Council.
For information regarding the development of our equipment service visit the Integrated Equipment Service for Dorset page.
If you would like to request an assessment and you are a new customer or have no current involvement with us, please contact the Adult Access Team.
If you currently receive a service from us, please contact your allocated worker at the social care local office.
