Verwood - Romford Bridge

Scheme description and background

Romford Bridge is located on the western approach to Verwood. A narrow bridge with poor approach visibility which suffers regular damage from vehicles as a result of its restricted width. The caravan parks located further to the west increases the use of this bridge by pedestrians walking to Verwood. The land surrounding Romford is SSSI and any improvement off-line will be a lengthy process.

Scheme Objectives

  • Improve Safety/Reduce conflict
  • Reduce dependency on the car

Cost and Funding

Scheme delayed, awaiting corporate funding top up.

Scheme on hold at present - scheme progress subject to corporate funding top up.

When scheme drawings have been prepared the Town Council and Local Members will be presented with options.

Future Programme

Options are currently being considered for this scheme. Stage 1 safety audit carried out.
