Five year housing land supply - East Dorset
All councils are required to identify and maintain a rolling five year supply of deliverable land for housing in their areas. This document identifies specific sites which East Dorset District Council consider will contribute to the delivery of the five year housing land supply as of 1 April 2008.
The five year housing land supply for East Dorset District Council has identified the potential for 1,230 units from 2008 to 2013. The methodology used to identify this potential is explained in the document.

The next five year housing supply assessment will be produced after 1 April 2009, by which time we should have clearer Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) housing figures to assess our supply against. There will also be more comprehensive information coming forward from the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) to inform the revised assessment.
Government's guidance, Planning Policy Statement (PPS) 3 Housing, requires all planning authorities to produce a Five Year Housing Land Supply assessment. For this year we can assess our housing supply against Structure Plan housing requirements but we have also included an assessment against draft SW Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) housing figures.
The five year housing land supply assessment will be updated annually and the evidence will inform the development of housing policy in our Local Development Framework. It will also be a material consideration in assessing future housing applications.
