Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is an international project which aims to give shoe boxes of Christmas presents to underprivileged children in poorer countries. Although the beneficiaries are not local, it is a great way to get our young people thinking about and actively helping others.

Our Young People Doing Good (YPDG) group organise this most years, asking Youth Club members at STEPS to bring in items for the boxes - toys, stationery, gifts, etc. We then put them into the shoe boxes, wrap the boxes in Christmas paper and label them (for boys/girls of certain ages).

Each year, the project is a great success - we usually manage to create 16-25 boxes jam-packed with gifts!

For more information on Operation Christmas Child please see their website (opens in a new window) .
