Licence - pet shop
Anyone wishing to run a pet shop needs a licence under the Pet Animals Act 1951.
The licence can set a number of conditions to secure the well being of the animals. A pet shop is defined broadly as premises (including a private dwelling) from which animals are sold as pets. Any business offering pets for gain is also subject to licensing conditions. Licences are renewable on an annual basis and are subject to a fee.
