Pet Shops
Anyone wishing to run a pet shop needs a licence under the Pet Animals Act 1951.
A pet shop is defined broadly as premises (including a private dwelling) from which animals are sold as pets. Any business offering pets for gain can be subject to a number of conditions to ensure the well being of the animals. Licences are renewable on an annual basis and are subject to a fee.
