Education in the countryside
Educational resources available to teachers, families and individuals.
Events organised by Dorset Countryside allow everyone to learn something new. Why not join one of the rangers on a bird walk during bird week?
As well as formal educational sessions there are other fun ways to get your children involved in wildlife, such as joining one of the holiday events at the country parks or joining a Watch group.
Education at Avon Heath Country Park
At Avon Heath Country Park we specialise in running a full educational programme, designed around the National Curriculum, but adaptable for other groups on request. Activities include woodland maths, mini-beast safaris, pond dipping, people and heaths, mystery mud, tree-id and pongy plants!
- Education at Durlston
Durlston is a superb outdoor classroom with a wealth of opportunities to enhance the study of geography, science, history, art and much more.
- Wildlife watch groups
Both fun and educational, wildlife watch is an excellent way for 8 to 12 year olds to learn about the natural world.
