On street parking dispensations for Christchurch
Dispensations are issued by Christchurch council to allow vehicles to park in specified locations where waiting restrictions are in force.
This service is provided to assist bona fide works by contractors and individuals where there is demonstrable need for a vehicle or vehicles to be parked close to the place where work is being carried out. It is not for the general convenience of individuals or workmen.
All applications for parking dispensations will be considered on merit and granted only if there is no other reasonable option available and will be chargeable at a rate of £5.25 per day or £26.50 per week per vehicle. We may also impose conditions for safety reasons or to minimise disruption. Any decision made will be final, and where an application is rejected, the applicant must make alternative parking arrangements.
Any dispensation form issued must be clearly displayed in the windscreen of the vehicle in accordance with the conditions so that it is clearly visible to a parking attendant from the outside of the vehicle. Failure to do so will render the vehicle liable to receive a Penalty Charge Notice. Any dispensation form that has been copied, altered or defaced will be deemed invalid and any vehicle displaying such a form will also be liable to receive a Penalty Charge Notice.
Should it be deemed that any vehicle is not parked in accordance with the conditions of the dispensation or is causing an obstruction to pedestrian/vehicular traffic flow, the driver will be requested to move the vehicle. This request may come from a Civil Enforcement Officer or Police Officer.
A dispensation does not give the driver the right to park in: taxi ranks, bus stop clearways, loading bays, disabled bays or on school keep clear markings, unless specifically authorised to do so.
Dispensations must be applied for in person at the One Stop Shop, Civic Offices, Bridge Street, Christchurch between 9am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays. A minimum of 48 hours notice is required to consider applications. Those that have been granted are to be paid for at the cash office before collection.
