Outreach Team and Brokerage Service

The Outreach service aims to ensure that the Family Information Service (FIS) is accessible and meets the needs of the community through locality working. The team consists of one senior outreach officer and six outreach officers based within the multi agency hubs in each of the six localities across Dorset.

Visits to groups or events

If you run a group or are planning an event for parents of children aged 0 - 19 the outreach officers can provide face to face information, advice and guidance on childcare, activities and family support services. This service is available to all family members, carers and practitioners. The information is tailored to parents' needs, a table top display can be available for larger groups.

Children's centres

Outreach officers work in partnership with children centres to ensure parents and carers can access information on site and in their local communities. Find out more about children's centres and what they can offer you and your family.

Brokerage service

Parents, carers, young people and practitioners often have difficulty finding the information they need, when they need it. Our outreach team offer a Brokerage service, tailored to meet the needs of individual families to enable you to find what you are looking for.

Who can use the Brokerage service?

The service is primarily aimed at:

  • Parents and carers of children and young people who are disabled

  • Parents and carers who are themselves disabled, or have additional needs or English as a second language

  • Families or practitioners that have contacted the FIS but are still unable to access the services required

  • Parents and carers starting or returning to work education or training

  • Families that are new to the area
