Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra
Dorset Youth Orchestra has strong connections with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra's 'Kokoro', its contemporary music ensemble. Founded in 1994 by Kevin Field, a former member of the BSO, 'Kokoro' has also been closely associated with Mark Forkgen who was appointed the ensemble's Principal Conductor and Artistic Adviser in September 2002. The Richard Ely Trust
The Richard Ely Trust for Young Musicians was set up to support young people who wish to pursue an interest in music. One way in which they do this is by giving grants towards the expenses of young people who are engaged in musical studies and activities and are suffering financial hardship. Examples of such expenses would include instrumental or vocal tuition, attendance on a course of study, membership of a performing group, and the purchase and maintenance of an instrument. Bournemouth Airport
Dorset Music Service was delighted to be supported by the Manchester Airport Group in 2008 in funding a performance at the Royal Albert Hall for Dorset's young musicians. Funding has since continued to support the many performance opportunities Dorset Music Service offers. Manchester Airport Group is committed to investing in the arts, enriching the arts and culture in the regions in which it operates. They believe that a thieving theatre and arts scene help support tourism and inward investment. Since the arts sponsorship programme began more than £8 million has been allocated to arts sponsorship projects. Their approach has been to support a range of schemes from high profile organisations to small community initiatives and to promote art forms to those who would not normally have access to them.
