How does the garden waste collection scheme work?
To use this service, garden waste must be put in a brown council paper sack and placed at the kerbside on the day of your garden waste collection. The council's garden waste sacks can be purchased for 36p each.

What can I put in my garden waste sack?
As the garden waste sacks go to be composted, it is important that the correct things are put in them. If the wrong items are placed in the bags then, unfortunately, they can't be collected as they will not be able to go for composting. To ensure your bag is collected please follow the instructions below.

Important information
Please ensure your garden waste sacks are at the kerbside by 7am to ensure collection
Please do not overfill the bag. Keep the contents below the line and weight under 20kg
Please ensure your bag is kept dry until the day of collection
All items must be contained within the bag with the top folded down to the line to ensure collection
Alternatives to the garden waste scheme
Home composting
You can compost your garden waste at home using a home composter. The final product from your compost bin can be used back in your garden.
Using household recycling centres
You can take your household garden waste to the household recycling centre at Wilverley Road in Somerford. You are permitted to use a car or a car with a small trailer free of charge. The garden waste taken to this site will be taken for composting.
