Tattoos, cosmetic piercing, accupuncture, semi-permanent skin colouring and electrolysis

Anyone wishing to carry out acupuncture, tattooing, ear or other body piercing must be registered.

The purpose of registration is to ensure that basic health and safety standards are maintained in any premises where these activities are carried out. These activities are controlled by the Local Government Act 2003.

Electrolysis is also regulated by the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982.

Registration will usually require a fee to be paid.
