All dogs will be checked for a tag and micro-chip. If they are unclaimed after 7 days they will be passed onto a rescue centre for re-homing.

The dog warden is also responsible for the:

• Collection or seizure of any stray dogs that are found within the Borough in accordance with the Environmental Protection (Stray Dogs) Act 1990. All dogs will be checked for a tag and micro-chip. If they are unclaimed after 7 days they will be passed onto a rescue centre for re-homing

• Enforcement of legislation under the Control of Dogs Order 1992 which requires all dogs to wear a collar and tag when out in public

• Patrolling the Borough and enforcing legislation under the Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996

• Investigation of complaints about barking dogs and dangerous dogs

• School talks on how to behave around dogs, dos and don'ts and responsible dog ownership, as the children are the dog owners of tomorrow
