Christchurch and East Dorset Statement of Community Involvement
The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) is one of the first documents produced as part of the Local Development Framework (LDF) process. The joint Statement of Community Involvement for Christchurch and East Dorset sets out how the Councils intend to achieve continuous community involvement in the preparation of Local Development Documents (LDDs) and in the consideration of planning applications.
Statement of Community Involvement Adoption
Christchurch Borough Council and East Dorset District Council formally adopted a jointly prepared statement of community involvement (SCI) on the 25 July 2006 and 14 August 2006 respectively. This document will be used by both authorities in the production of future documents prepared as part of the local development framework process. The adopted SCI and adoption statement can be downloaded from this webpage, along with a compact summary version of the full document.
The statement of community involvement adoption statement gives formal notice of the adoption; lists the locations where the document will be available for inspection; and sets out the procedure for pursuing a grievance under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004.
Examination of the SCI
Submission consultation was conducted from the 9 November to the 21 December 2005 and representations received were lodged with Government Office for the South West (GOSW) and the planning inspectorate (PINS).
Following this period of public consultation an independent Inspector was appointed by the Government to examine the 'soundness' of the submitted SCI. Those who made representations during the consultation process were contacted directly with the examination details. A public hearing was subsequently held on Thursday 4 May at 10.00am at the following location:
The Committee Room, Council Offices, East Dorset District Council, Furzehill, Wimborne, Dorset, BH21 4HN
The appointed inspector was Mr T J Kemmann-Lane DipTP FRTPI NCMI.
Following the public hearing, the Inspector issued a binding report setting out the changes to be made to the SCI as a result of the examination process. The SCI has subsequently been amended in accordance with the Inspector's binding report. The Inspector's Report is available to download from this webpage and is available for inspection at the locations listed below.
