Real nappy incentive scheme
We are offering parents the opportunity to receive £30 off the cost of real nappies.
Parents can choose between two schemes
Voucher scheme
Parents can apply for a £30 voucher from the Dorset Waste Partnership. When the voucher is sent to them, a
list of Dorset Real Nappy Retailers (pdf, 19kb) (opens in a new window)
will also be included. Parents can spend their voucher with one of the retailers listed. This includes the option to use the voucher with a nappy laundry scheme. The voucher will expire after two months. Cashback scheme
Refund Scheme
Parents can buy their real nappies from any retailer of their choice, including those on the internet. They then need to fill in an application form and send it to the county council, along with an itemised receipt. Receipt dates must be within two months of application. A payment of £30 will be paid into the parent's bank account.
Please download an
application form (pdf, 119kb) (opens in a new window)
and return it with the items listed below. A downloadable
leaflet (pdf, 138kb) (opens in a new window)
is available, which gives further information about the scheme.
Please note the following:
A minimum spend of £45 applies, which must be made in a single transaction. Those people applying for a refund will be required to send in a copy of an itemised receipt
Parents can buy real nappies, wraps and also real nappy accessories, such as nappy buckets or liners
Babies must be aged 18 months or under and must live in Dorset
Only one claim can be made per baby
Parents will be asked to send proof of address plus a photocopy of the baby's birth certificate (or a photocopy of a MAT B1 form if the baby has not yet been born)
Parents could be contacted for feedback at a later date
A wide range of real nappies is now available. Visit the
Go Real website (opens in a new window)
for more details.
This offer is also open to foster parents. Contact the waste reduction team for more details.
We regret that this offer is open only to people living in the Dorset County Council area. This includes Christchurch, East Dorset, North Dorset, Purbeck, West Dorset and Weymouth and Portland. Bournemouth and Poole Councils are unitary councils and are not yet part of the scheme. Bournemouth Council has its own scheme. Visit
Bournemouth's webpage (opens in a new window)
for more details.
Please note 300 applications will be accepted from 01/04/13 to 31/03/14. Applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
There is also the cheaper option of sewing your own nappies. Visit the
Lucky Sprog website (opens in a new window)
where you can buy complete sewing kits as well as view video instructions about how to assemble them. If you decide to go for this option then we will provide a £30 refund, as long as you spend over £45 and provide an itemised receipt.
