Christchurch - Boat Moorings
Christchurch Borough Council has a lease of the lower harbour. The mooring facilities offered are as follows.
Trot moorings on south-east side of the harbour
61 moorings are maintained by us. Seven are suitable for boats up to 30ft (9.14m) and the remainder for boats up to 25ft (7.62m). These moorings have reasonable shelter from Hengistbury Head. There is no vehicle access on this side of the harbour and a tender is required to access them.
Self-laid moorings at Mudeford in the north-eastern part of the harbour
There are up to 100 licences issued annually for self-laid moorings in this area. There are car parking facilities and a slipway on Mudeford Quay. Boats drawing more than 2 ft 6 inches (0.79m) are restricted due to tides. At low tide boats must be able to sit on the sea bed.
Some useful points about moorings
- Moorings are licensed on an annual basis from 1 December 2011 to 15 November 2012
- There is no reduction for anyone taking over a mooring part way through the licence period
- Buoyage within the harbour and at the harbour entrance is provided by the Christchurch Harbour Association
