The Statement of Accounts shows the financial performance of East Dorset District Council and details our finances. Our accounts are prepared in accordance with the Code of Practice on Local Authority Accounting.

Notice is Hereby Given that the Audit of the above-mentioned Council's accounts for the year ended 31 March 2013 has been completed and there is no reason for a report to be made to the Council under Section 8 of Audit Commission Act 1998.
The statement of accounts is available for inspection by any local government elector for East Dorset at the Council's Offices, Furzehill, Wimborne, Dorset, BH21 4HN, during normal office hours without payment. Any such elector is entitled:
a) To inspect and make copies of any statement of accounts prepared by the Council pursuant to regulations under Section 14 of the above mentioned Act and any report made to the Council by an Auditor, and
b) To require copies of any such statement or report to be delivered to them on payment of a reasonable sum of each copy
The council's external auditor is: Grant Thornton UK LLP, Hartwell House, 55-61 Victoria Street, Bristol, BS1 6FT.
The engagement lead for the audit is Peter Barber.
Annual Audit Letter
The Annual Audit Letter summarises the key findings arising from the external audit work that was carried out at East Dorset District Council for the year ended 31 March 2013:
- auditing the 2012/13 accounts and Whole of Government Accounts submission (Section two)
- assessing the Council's arrangements for securing economy, efficiency and effectiveness in its use of resources (Section three)
- certification of grant claims and returns (Section four)
The Letter is intended to communicate key messages to the Council and external stakeholders, including members of the public.
