Walks around Cerne Abbas
Cerne Abbas is situated in the valley cut by the River Cerne and is surrounded by gentle hills typical of the West Dorset countryside. There is an extensive range of public footpaths and bridleways throughout the village and walks to suit every taste.
The Cerne Abbas historical society has published a leaflet showing a walk in the village which passes many of the buildings and sites of historic interest. This leaflet is available in the the village shops and pubs and provides an excellent introduction to the village.
Dorset County Council maintains an
official map (opens in a new window)
showing the routes of all footpaths (pink), bridleways (green) and byways (blue) in Dorset. You can zoom to any area of interest and examine the exact route of paths in detail.
