Christchurch Borough Council - travel concessions
The Dorset County Council scheme enables free off peak bus travel for eligible Dorset residents between 9.30am to 11pm Monday to Friday, and at weekends and public holidays. In addition, the following concessions are available to permanent residents of Christchurch.
If you are blind or partially sighted, your bus pass will entitle you to free bus travel at all times. It will also permit a companion to travel with you free of charge when boarding in the Bournemouth, Christchurch or Poole areas at any time.
If you suffer from a permanent disability that prevents you from using a public bus service, you may be entitled to Travel tokens.
How to apply for a bus pass
If you have not yet applied for an England-wide bus pass, or have just become eligible, you will need to apply in-person at Christchurch Borough Council, Civic Offices, Bridge Street, Christchurch, BH23 1AZ.
As part of the application, you will need to provide proof of your age, your permanent residence in Christchurch, and if applicable, your disability.
To apply for a pass please complete and return the
Dorst Bus Pass application form (pdf, 214kb) (opens in a new window)
, which you will need to bring in-person to the Civic Offices.
Do I have to pay for my pass?
Bus passes are issued free to eligible people. However, as the new passes are expensive to produce and are produced to a national standard by an external company, Dorset County Council makes a £7.00 charge where passes are lost and a replacement is requested. If the pass has been stolen and a crime number is provided to the council, then a replacement will be issued free of charge. Requests for a replacement pass should be made to Christchurch Borough Council.
When will my pass expire?
Individual Christchurch passes expire on different dates. This is to spread the workload involved with renewing passes.
