Development contributions towards transport infrastructure in Purbeck

This interim guidance summarises the policy background and need for contributions to transport infrastructure in Purbeck, before setting out how the policies are intended to be implemented.

The Developer Contributions towards transport in Purbeck June 2009 (PDF, 97kb) (opens in a new window) has been prepared by Dorset County Council to provide guidance on the likely levels of financial contribution that will be requested from developers in Purbeck towards the implementation of the Purbeck Transport Strategy (PTS), aiming to mitigate the general transport implications of their development proposals. It was implemented on 1 January 2007 and is reviewed annually.

The development contribution guidance will be used to inform planning decisions in advance of the adoption of a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) by Purbeck District Council as part of their emerging Local Development Framework (LDF)

Contributions will be used for the delivery of schemes identified in the Purbeck Transportation Strategy. They are not a replacement for the provision of infrastructure elements which would normally be paid for by the developer as part of the development, such as on-site roads, immediate off-site transport infrastructure, landscaping or street lighting.
