Information for people who are d/Deaf

d/Deaf is a term used to cover all people with some type of deafness and includes those who are, hard of hearing, partially deaf or profoundly deaf.

If you are hard of hearing or deafened, you are certainly not alone. Those who have suffered a gradual loss of hearing will have developed other ways to compensate for this, such as lip-reading, to help with the residual hearing. Eventually we reach a stage where we need more help to exist in a hearing world.

Our factsheet information for people with a hearing impairment aims to provide you with practical advice:

  • To reassure those with hearing loss that they are not alone, creating an awareness of the assistance available
  • Provide contact addresses and other useful contact information
  • Give an indication of the specialist equipment designed to assist those with sensory loss

The factsheet can be accessed by following this link community care (Adult Social Services) factsheets.
