Animal bone, pottery and other finds

Finds recovered from the Ridgeway Hill excavations include human and animal bones, pottery of various dates, prehistoric tools made from knapped flints, metalwork such as nails and a small fragment of a Bronze Age dagger, shells, pieces of coal, glass and clay pipes.

These finds can tell us about the type of activity taking place at the site and also help to date the different archaeological features. Each category of find will be examined by an expert in that field and some of the finds will be drawn by an illustrator.
