Two Riversmeet Arena

The expanded Arena Wheel Park and new BMX track will benefit the community.

Christchurch Borough Council has expanded the use of the old arena site adjacent to Two Riversmeet Leisure Complex to the benefit of the community. The successful wheelpark installed a couple of years ago is now accompanied by all-weather football facilities and a BMX track, all of which have improved and enhanced sporting facilities in the arena.

The new facilities include two seven-a-side football pitches with synthetic turf playing surfaces enabling year round play for football and other sports. These pitches are surrounded by fencing and are floodlit to allow playing up until around 10.30pm. In addition amenity lighting has been provided to illuminate the access paths across the arena to these facilities.

A fully functioning BMX track now utilises the previously existing arena banking. An informal 'friends of' group has been established to allow the community to become involved with the management and event co-ordination for the new facilities.

In addition, the existing Leisure Complex car park has been refurbished with a new layout, surfacing and landscaping. Safer pedestrian routes into and around the car park have been established as well as a host of other minor improvements.

The Skate Group

A 'Friends of' Group for the BMX Track and Skate Park has been established and is inviting young people to meet other young people and become involved with the arena, giving them a voice. We need skaters and bikers to come along to the informal meetings at the park on arranged dates. This will be weather dependant, during the Spring and Summer months. Please check the Facebook group for more details.

Graffiti artwork

You may have noticed new graffiti art on the walls of the skate ramps. Gareth Clow from G2Blix has provided a visual treat for the park users in an attempt to tackle graffiti problems and get young people involved with artwork. The rear "green" wall is a graffiti wall and gives young people to space to practise their own artwork. Any offensive graffiti will be removed. We invite you to upload photos of your artwork to the Facebook group.
