Advice, information and harm reduction services for adults

EDP provides a free and confidential advice and information service to drug and alcohol users, their families, partners, carers and other agencies.

You can be referred by another agency or self refer by phoning or dropping in during opening hours (see contact details below).  Alternatively, you can leave a message and someone will get in touch with you.

You can join a group or befriend one of the trained staff members on a one-to-one basis.

EDP offers advice and information for individuals concerned about their drug and alcohol use and for professionals working with substance misusers.  EDP also offer support and advice for families, friends or carers of service users in groups and/or one-to-one sessions.

EDP offers harm reduction advice on safer injecting, wound care and overdose prevention, needle exchange and free works (including vitamin c and citric, swabs, bins), access to blood borne virus (BBV) testing, advice and information, free acupuncture sessions for help with cravings and anxiety and referral to counselling.

EDP can give advice on, or refer you on to statutory agencies for prescribing, detox, aftercare and rehab, or the Drug Intervention Programme (DIP), if you have been arrested or spent time in prison.

EDP also run groups to help with preparation for change and relapse prevention.  They can help with decision-making, budgeting, debt management, housing, benefits, legal advice, communication skills (such as telephone, face to face and letter writing), IT skills and looking after your general health (including safer sex, alcohol misuse and nutrition).
