Food safety Inspection at Christchurch

Food stall

There are approximately 350 registered food premise in Christchurch ranging from large food manufacturers to small retail convenience stores.

Food businesses are inspected on a regular basis normally without prior warning. The frequency of inspection depends upon the food activity and the findings during the previous inspection. The council's overall duty is to protect the public and, where conditions are found to have fallen below the accepted legal minimum, formal enforcement action will be considered.

Members of the Food Safety Team are happy to offer advice and assistance to businesses to help them meet their legal obligations.
