South and East Dorset Community Drug and Alcohol Team (SEDCDAT)

South and East Dorset Community Drug and Alcohol Team (SEDCDAT) is a service for people requiring treatment for dependency on alcohol, illegal or prescribed drugs.

  • Treatment service offering harm reduction, excluding needle exchange, and abstinence-based initiatives according to individual need for people with drug and alcohol dependency problems
  • Working with adults aged 21 years and over (Younger people will initially be referred on to the Young Person's Specialist Prevention Service (SPS) for initial assessment)
  • Comprehensive assessment of needs
  • Offers structured treatment with psychological and social support and where appropriate prescribed medication
  • Offers access to community and in-patient detoxification
  • Access to residential rehabilitation against Fair Access to Care criteria (FACS)
  • Provides local statutory service support to other statutory and non-statutory agencies who meet people with drug and alcohol related problems
  • Access to testing for HIV, Hepatitis A and B and immunisation against Hepatitis A B and C
  • Access to liver treatment services
  • Offers training and education about drugs and alcohol
