Asda car park
The county council is working with Asda in Weymouth on redesigning the current car park layout.
It is recognised that the current design of the car park:
- Causes congestion on Newstead Road and up Boothill
- Slows traffic entering and exiting due to the zebra crossing
- Makes searching for a parking space difficult due to it's current circulatory system
Proposals include:
- A left turn filter lane into the store from Newstead Road
- A new exit only onto Marsh Road
- A revised car park layout incorporating a new perimeter road around the outside of the car park to reduce vehicle/pedestrian conflicts at the store entrance
- Improvements to Marsh Road/Newstead Road junction to enhance visibility for traffic using the new exit on Marsh Road
