Working with local businesses
The Dorset University Partnership (DUP) firmly believes in linking learning with employment, and this is at the heart of our proposals. Together with businesses, we would like to develop local, flexible, work-based learning programmes that give people the core skills businesses need.
These courses could be entirely based within the workplace and the curriculum tailored to the employee and the employer's specific business requirements.
We want to make sure the learning programmes meet the needs of local businesses and helps their organisations develop and thrive.
We would also like to include programmes that have a strong Dorset flavour, building upon opportunities presented by the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, sailing, maritime engineering, local produce and sustainability.
Get involved with the DUP
We will be submitting our bid to the Government in December and want to hear from employers that may be interested in supporting or becoming part of our bid.
If you want to discuss your training needs and ideas on how your business, employees and local people could benefit from working with us, get in touch.
For an informal discussion and to find out more, call David Walsh, county council economic development manager.
