Food safety Inspection at East Dorset
There are just over 700 registered food premise in East Dorset ranging from large national retail stores to small micro businesses with just 1-2 employees.
These together with a further 700 non food businesses are inspected (usually without prior notice) according to the risk they pose to the public and/or employees.
Officers visit the premises so as to ensure compliance with the national food and occupational safety legislation.
The premises are then scored according to how well they comply with the law and this score is then used to calculate when the business is next inspected.
The aim of the Food and Safety Team is to help maintain the health of our local communities by:
- Preventing rogue traders from operating in our area and
- Helping our local businesses to operate safely.
