The latest Dorset Coast Forum (DCF) news, updated on a monthly basis.

DCF/EA Collaboration project

This project has now ended with Tony Flux's contract ending on 6 July. The fifth project looked at the attitudes and adaptations of small and large businesses towards possible future flooding in both Weymouth and Poole town centres. A final report has been written to draw together any overall conclusions from the past 2 years and provide any recommendations to the EA. C-SCOPE update

The first month since the launch of iCoast has had over 2500 hits.  Professional marketing of iCoast will start in August, with the deadline for invited companies for the marketing work on 8 July 2011.

Coastal Change Pathfinder Project update

The Coastal Change Pathfinder Exhibition for Swanage attracted over 200 Swanage residents and visitors. The exhibition will now visit Charmouth Village Hall (7 July), Weymouth Library (14, 15 and 16 of July) and Kennaway House, Sidmouth (21 July). Land Use Consultants, on behalf of the Jurassic Coast Pathfinder Project, have completed a report exploring how the spatial planning system can support adaptation to coastal change.  This report will be published shortly. A DVD showcasing the work of students from Dorset and East Devon on the Jurassic Coast Pathfinder Education programme has been published and made available to local schools to support further study of coastal processes. As part of the Jurassic Coast Pathfinder Project evaluation process the project team and representatives of other Pathfinder Projects attended a seminar at Defra to share the lessons emerging from the projects. The project team also hosted a conference in Exeter on the 22 June which brought together over 70 delegates to explore how coastal communities in the region could adapt to coastal change.
