Children's Services Locality Hub Development

The Locality Hubs project forms part of the Early Intervention Services initiative which is focussed on providing joined up, locality based, front line children's services across council, health and voluntary sectors. This initiative will bring together staff and agencies who can provide better support to children and families by working together.

Six localities, based on the district and borough council boundaries, have been established and within these localities 16 hubs are being created providing permanent accommodation and drop-in bases for staff across multi agency teams.

The positioning of the hubs will be based on information gained and analysis completed as part of the provision of Early Intervention Services across Dorset. They will continue to be driven and based on meeting local needs and providing support to children and families as close as possible to their communities. The majority of hubs are now in use by staff from a variety of Early Intervention services including Education Social Workers, Youth Inclusion Support Panel Staff, Connexions Workers, Health professionals and locality case workers.

Monkton Park Children's Services Campus

Plans are well advanced to create a coherent and integrated Children's Services Campus, as a co-location centre of excellence in a rural area. This ambitious project will incorporate Dorset County Council, NHS Dorset, West Dorset District Council and other agencies. In order to achieve this appropriate improvements and adaptations are planned to allow for the full use of this site.

The overriding aim of this initiative is to work across the whole public sector asset base to achieve better management and service provision. The co-location project at Monkton Park should be seen as a clear statement of intent, synergy in service delivery and contributes to the initial aim of consolidating the county council's accommodation footprint and reducing the number of satellite offices.
