We organise landlords' forums across Dorset to discuss current topics of interest and provide opportunities to meet other landlords and obtain advice from housing specialists.
The main aims of the forum are to:
Provide a focus for discussion on private sector housing issues, including best practice, guidance and legislation
Provide a consultation mechanism with landlords for new policies and procedures
Improve and develop services available to landlords and tenants
We also produce regular Doorstep landlord newsletters providing landlords with up to date information and forum details.
We are particularly keen to hear from landlords who would like to attend forum meetings. These forums are open to anybody involved in private lettings including voluntary groups, advice agencies and those thinking of becoming landlords. In addition landlords are encouraged to suggest topics of interest or concern that they would like to be included at future meetings.
If you would like more information on what is happening in your area, contact your Private Sector Housing Team at your local council.
North Dorset District Council Landlords' Forum
The Landlords' Forum aims to meet twice per year. The forum is a venue for landlords to find out the latest developments in private letting, how the council can help and to meet other like-minded landlords.
West Dorset District Council Landlords' Seminar
The Landlords' Seminar aims to take place twice per year. These meetings provide an opportunity for landlords to get advice from council officers and find out the latest developments in private letting.
Weymouth and Portland working in partnership with the private rented sector
The council works closely with Weymouth and District Landlords Association who are affiliated to National Landlords Association. Membership of these associations helps keep all local landlords up to date with legislation and other issues while offering benefits such as discount insurance packages and reductions on building materials.
