All new food businesses must register with the Council. 

To do this please contact us and request an ´Application for Registration´ form or use the on-line Registration Form (word, 68kb) (opens in a new window) . 

Registration is free of charge.

Inspections are carried out by competent trained officers, who enforce the Food Safety Act 1990, the Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2006, the General Food Regulations 2004 and all relevant legislation arising from the European Communities Act 1972.

Complaints

If you wish to make a complaint about hygiene or other food safety issues at a food business located within Purbeck, please contact Public Health & Housing Services and a member of the Public Health Team will be happy to speak to you. 

All formal complaints are investigated and action is taken in line with the Section's Enforcement Policy. Complainants are advised of the outcome of their complaints. The complainant's details are kept confidential but we are normally unable to investigate anonymous allegations.
