Gillingham Children's Centre

Children's centres aim to give all children the best possible start in life and enable parents to support their child and family. They act as a central point where families can access information and a range of services.

Overview

Welcome to Gillingham Children's Centre, which is part of the North Dorset cluster of children's centres. See our latest newsletter (pdf, 435kb) (opens in a new window)  for the North Dorset cluster.

Groups and activities are held at a number of venues around the town and include:

  • Messy Play
  • Drop In sessions
  • First Time Parents group
  • Breastfeeding Support group

We also run a number of play days throughout the year during school holidays. Parents and carers can access our outreach workers, who can provide additional support or help to direct you to other professionals.

Please see our current activities programme (PDF, 731kb) (opens in a new window) . Our activities are reviewed daily. Please check availability with the centre if you are planning on attending an activity. We look forward to welcoming you.

We work closely with the other Children's Centres in North Dorset. Find out what activities (pdf, 356kb) (opens in a new window) are running in Gillingham, Shaftesbury, Blandford and Sturminster Newton.

The centre is located in the Youth and Community Centre building on Cemetery Road, which is on the outskirts of the town. We cover Gillingham and the surrounding areas of Bourton, Motcombe, Buckholme Weston, Marnhull, The Stours and East and West Orchard.
